# RASS Classroom --- <<Sight Word Level 1 Teaching Schedule for Mummies>>

Age: For children aged 2-4
Early Education Mama believes:
1. Mummy’s reading demonstration is crucial in child’s learning.
2. Building early reading habits.
3. Word recognition should not be isolated. Words should be learnt in sentence content.
4. Learning to read sight words enhances children reading ability.
Suggested teaching flow (Every child is unique. It could be changed according to the child)
1. Listen and Watch
Select 5-8 sight words cards, mummy points at the words and read two to three times clearly. It helps children associating the orthography and sound of the words. For the last time, read the sight word again, then turn to the sentence page and read clearly.
2. Getting familiar
Read the sight words and sentences several time a day.
3. Trying to read
When the child gets familiar with the words, mummy reads the sight word first. Then turn to the sentence page, read the sentence until the sight word. Encourage the child to read the sight word aloud.
4. Capable to read
Child can read some of the words. Keep practicing. Mummy can read the sentence with the child cooperatively.
5. Tracing stage
After reading the sight word, use the finger to trace the letters and spell (e.g. T-W-O, TWO). Ask the child to trace the letters with you.
6. Spelling stage
Read and spell the sight words, ask the child to spell and trace the word together.
